Job Description:

The Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent for Instructional Support writes and directs grant programs to supplement K-12 students' academic, health, emotional, social, and physical well-being. This staff member interacts and collaborates with system adminisrators,local teachers. involved parents, community agencies, business partners, and other vocational, state, and local stakeholders.

Community Outreach Service

The communtiy outreach program provides a parent liason who works with parents and school personnel in an efforts to maximum opportunities for student success. The program provides need assessments, interventions, referrals, home visits, and mentoring to at- risk youth in grades K-12. This service is provided through a partnership (20% of At- Risk funding) with East Central Mental Health.


Community Education

Education in a community depends on the support of parents, citizens, teachers, churches, support personnel, administrators, students, elders, businesses, and any other interested parties of Banks, Alabama, Brundidge, Alabama, Troy, Alabama and Goshen, Alabama.

Graduation Coach/ DPA Program Director

The Graduation Coach/ DPA Program Director leads the Graduation Coaches in finding strategies and initiatives that will aid in increasing the graduation rate and decreasing the drop-out rate of students in the Pike County School System.

The Director and Graduation Coaches collaborate with administrators, teachers, and other outside agencies to assist grades 9-12 students in achieving academic success through tutoring, classroom intervention, and counseling and guidance sessions in schools, as well as the Alternative Learning Center.

 


Pike County Indian Education Program

A web resource for Native Americans

Indian Education is designed to provide academic instruction and Indian culture experiences to students determined to be of Native American descent.

MOTTO: "Plant brain seeds - Learn Indian deeds".

Project "CANOE" - Cultural and Academic Network of Opportunities for Enrichment:

The primary purpose of the Indian Education project "CANOE" is to assist schools in meeting the varied needs of students. "CANOE" promotes the national, state, and local educational goals.

System Textbook Coordinator

Who selects books for classes?

The System Textbook Coordinator follows state and local board guidelines for selection, issuance, and disposal of textbooks. Prior to state adopted textbooks being furnished to students, the system textbook coordinator chairs the System Textbook Committee, consisting of administrators, teachers, and parents representing their school, to evaluate and to recommend to the board approval of all student textbooks used in the school system. 

Personnel Director

The Personnel Director uses various methods to recruit certified personnel for job vacancies. This staff member is also responsible for ensuring that fellow administrators are following system guidelines for interviewing and recommending personnel for hire.

Impact Aid Program The Impact Aid Program Director collects data of children enrolled in the school system who reside on federal properties, have parents in uniformed services, or meet other grant application requirements. This data is collected and used annually to apply for Federal Impact Aid funds for the School District.

Library Media Program

A good citizen is a well- informed citizen.

The Library Media Program is a vital part of learning at all schools in the system. The Library Media Specialist at each school encourage students, teachers, and community residents to check-out various types of media materials from the school library.

Alabama Student Assistance Plan

What is ASAP?

The Alabama Student Assistance Plan (ASAP) is a state mandated At-Risk plan which is subject to State approval. ASAP encompasses several strategies for ameliorating barriers of At- Risk students grades K through 12. These strategies include efforts to address student health issues through Children First programs, School Nurses, and High Hopes Tutors. ASAP enables At-Risk sub-programs of students, as well as the schools' general student population, to be served by a community outreach specialist.(See Community Outreach Specialist for additional information)
